Drop-in pottery Workshops.  Established in Blandford in 2008 by ceramicist Vanessa Conyers.  The Parlour has an emphasis on nurturing creative talent rather than technical perfection and the relaxed atmosphere is part of that philosophy.

The Parlour is dedicated to proper pottery, creating work from the very beginning, starting with raw clay. The staff aim to provide you with a memorable creative experience.

Magic Drum  provides drumming workshops and rhythm-based training for school, community and corporate clients across the South West of England. For our event they will, in the morning teach and co ordinate the public with the art of drumming and rhythm using house hold items and junk and a local metal bridge.    This will be finished with a Call & Response public performance in the afternoon.

Blandford Museum Vistorian Garden  10am - 4pm

Jonathan is based in Dorset and is an established stone carver. He has exhibited his work extensively in Dorset and countrywide, including the Barbican Centre in London where he was invited to give sculpture demonstrations.  He will be running a drop-in workshop where people get the chance to learn the basics of stone carving and the opportunity to take their work of art home. He has run a workshop in Blandford previously, which proved very popular.

 Madeleine is a teacher and freelance story teller for the past 22 years.  She took part in our previous arts festival in 2004 will be returning this year teaching the art of story telling to those interested in learning the art. Each workshop will explore the approaches to learning stories (visual /auditory/kinesthetic), imagination stimulation exercises/making up stories, body warm ups, performance skills/confidence building.

Woodhouse Gardens   10-4pm

We will be creating two pieces of permanent art - Brother and Sister, made from mosaic.  These will be at The Woodhouse Gardens and the Museum. Two pieces of art linked in theme and in turn linking two separate parts of the town. It will be completed over the day and the community will be invited to get involved and help towards creating these two pieces of original art.

Parish Centre Garden

Jamie Jigsaw will be entertaining the children through circus workshops, demonstrating juggling, stilt walking, magic & balloon modelling.  Also over the day he will be doing some walk abouts on stilts around the town.

Imaginations  Childrens creative writing workshop

This workshop was inspired by the bedtime story game of imaginations I play with my children.  Each child will write a section of story inspired by the previous entry. This will lead to wonderful creative journey of the childs imagination.  It will then be published as an e-book for you to download and enjoy.  Its a drop in workshop running over the day.


Fantastic Doodle   

Grey Hound Yard   10.30 - 4pm   - any time you are passing have a doodle

A continuous roll of paper where people get the chance to put their doodle.  At the end of the day it will be dispalyed at the corn exchange


Paint Challenge  

Meet Outside the Corn Exchange  10a..  Bring your own m aterials

 4hrs to paint a scene of Blandford.  The finished paintings will then be displayed at the corn exchange exhibition.  Invitation to all ages and styles.  Please note any minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Passionate about Acting, Singing and Dance

The Academy is a new Performing Arts school in Blandford run by Principals Lauren Newbury and Rebecca Hollands.  It provides tuition in Drama, Singing, Musical Theatre and Dance and offer LAMDA, ABRSM, RAD and BTDA examinations and is affiliated with Forum Drama.  The Academy provides school holiday workshops from musical theatre medleys to intensive drama days.

During the festival they will be showcasing some or the songs from their next production 'Believe' and there will also be an opportunity to be part of a workshop and learn one of the songs!

Get the chance in this workshop Sculpting and up-cycling with a fabric hardening craft medium that's non toxic, environmentally friendly and weatherproof once fully dry.

~ Please note due to minimal funding there will only be limited free places.  They will be spilt between morning and afternoon sessions.  Other wise £10 for adults & £5 for children.

Get the chance to have a go at this fascinating process of turning raw wool (the wool you find on a sheeps back not a knitting shop) into a fabulous creation just by using a needle

Please note  there will only be a certain number of free places/kits.  They will be spilt between morning and afternoon sessions. Other wise  around £5 for the kit
